The four Lennox sisters, daughters of an 18th century Duke of Richmond, were prolific letter writers and their letters, mainly to each other, tell us much of the story of their lives. Narrative and letters are interwoven into a vivid account of the lives and loves of the four women, whose homes were some of the great houses of England and Ireland, with the history of the Georgian period as a background.
