The author and her husband came to Dijon, our nearest largish town, from America in 1929. They spent three years there as impoverished students and learned to love the town, its people and above all the food and wine of France's gastronomic capital. This entertaining and mouth-watering account of their life there is marvellously evocative of a genteel world long gone.
