The Year 1000 by Lacy Robert
and Danny Danziger What life was like at the turn of the first millennium in England. This is a book which is well researched but not easy to get into probably because it centres round the Julius Work Calendar which is a little bit dry. Once however you get over this difficulty then it is fascinating and you learn a great deal about the lives of the Anglo-Saxons.
