with Annie Barrows An enchanting and captivating novel. It comprises a series of letters which gradually reveal what life was like in Guernsey during the Nazi occupation, while also telling the heart-warming ongoing story of members of the eponymous group. The characters are beautifully drawn, and it manages to combine humour, tragedy and a love story brilliantly. It made me laugh and cry, and I almost couldn't bear to finish it. How sad the author died before writing more.
