The House on Hummingbird Island |
With its Caribbean setting and a plot that must owe something to The Wide Sargasso Sea this is a book that I think adults as well as a younger readership would enjoy. The author's style is reminiscent of such writers as Hodgson Burnett or more recently Eve Ibbotson and draws the reader in. This story of a young girl growing up in strange circumstances is beguiling. (Ferelith Hordon - bwl 81 Summer 2016) |
