The Towers of Trebizond
Laurie, young artist, breathlessly describes an imaginary journey largely taken along the southern Black Sea towns of Turkey, with her Aunt Dot on a camel, a retired High Anglican vicar named Canon Chantry-Pigg and a local doctor interpreter. Purpose of the journey: to convert Moslem-Turkish women to Christianity and enable them to escape the domination of their menfolk. A remarkable, witty, entertaining story with many comic episodes.
