Gone Girl |
A disconcerting book as nothing is as it seems to be. It opens as a thriller but then becomes more a tale of a disintegrating marriage. The story has two narrators - the husband and wife - giving very different perspectives. It is very dark and its twists and turns endlessly surprise or shock. A powerful and well written story, not for the faint hearted, but neither protagonist won my affection - as probably intended. (Christine Miller - bwl 69 Summer 2013) |
