Books by Georgette Heyer

Lady of Quality
Annis Wychwood is a very well-brought up lady, no longer so very young, with independent ways and independent means, and when she meets the rudest man in London, of her own social station but blunt in speech and careless to a fault, sparks begin to fly. Very clever and fabulously witty, as always exceptionally well-researched, this is Georgette Heyer at her very best, and Bath comes to life as it deserves.

Regency Buck - The Grand Sophy - Cousin Kate
Don't wince! Searching for something to read in my lock-down retreat I came across a stash of these elderly romances and thought Why not see how they have aged?Well I am romping through them with a certain glee. Perfect escapism for these dismal times, surprisingly engagingly written and with a guaranteed happy ending. What more could we want? So I am unapologetic . . .

The Reluctant Widow
Feeling low - the cure: Georgette Heyer; not to everyone's taste, she is ideal for those 'Mars Bar' occasions. Lively characters, an ability to write dialogue and a sense of history - she does bring the past to life. While The Reluctant Widow may not be her best, it combines humour, mystery and romance into a very satisfying whole that does not require too much concentration but lifts the mood. Indulge yourself - try her (Stephen Fry does!).
