I was as fascinated by the crafting of this novel as I was by the stunning story itself. Doerr has created three-dimensionality by writing strands of luminous narrative, then braiding them together with an urgency that carries the reader swiftly forward. This suspenseful tale of a blind girl, a cursed diamond, illegal radio broadcasts, a young German soldier, and the irrational cruelty of WWll will hold you in its grip from beginning to end.
