Books
by Ann Brontë
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Agnes Grey |
I decided after all these years - prompted by a programme on radio 4 where they talked about Ann Brontë being the least read of all the sisters - to read her two books. Full of the lives and routines of people in those days sharing the gossip of the everyday and the tight knit routines of communities, I found both books a refreshing glimpse of the past and thoroughly enjoyed reading them. Such a change from our now world full of noise and rushing here there and everywhere. (Aletha Anne Bloor - bwl 114 Autumn 2024) |
